Hesse Instruments is now a GmbH

Hesse Instruments is now a GmbH

With immediate effect Hesse Instruments now has the legal form GmbH instead of e. K.!

This is an important step in the development of the company, which marks the handover from Dr Axel Hesse to his sons Louis and Simon after the foundation of the e. K. last year. Both are taking on further responsibility as managing directors and are looking forward to shaping the future of Hesse Instruments GmbH together with the existing team and worldwide sales partners.

The company will continue to be based at Baumhofstr. 116 in 37520 Osterode. We kindly ask our customers, partners and suppliers to address any future correspondence or legal concerns to “Hesse Instruments GmbH” and look forward to future co-operation.

New application reports: example applications for the heating microscope

New application reports: example applications for the heating microscope

Heating microscopes can be used for a wide range of tasks. In order to provide our customers with a detailed insight into the capabilities of the EM301 heating microscope, we have created a new series of application reports on the topics of materials characterisation, instrument characteristics, and the investigation of the influence of measuring parameters. The reports are based on an extensive series of example measurements that were carried out in our laboratory.

Limitation and discontinuation of support for image analysis software EMI 2

Limitation and discontinuation of support for image analysis software EMI 2

As a result from personnel and technical reasons, the following changes apply to our long-proven image analysis software EMI 2:

  • By the end of 2022: Discontinuation of free support for EMI 2.
  • Until mid 2023: Discontinuation of complete service and support for EMI 2.

These changes mark the end of an era for us. EMI 2 has been reliably used by our customers worldwide for 20 years for heating microscopy in a variety of applications, ranging from the determination of ash fusibility, to ceramics and glass or steel and foundry products.

Every end has a beginning. Our successor software EMI III has been in use since 2015. EMI III is under continuous development and can be installed as an upgrade for heating microscopes with EMI 2. Measurements from EMI 2 can be imported and processed. In addition, EMI III offers a wider range of functions and our customers and we are continuously discovering new, extended fields of application.

Please contact us with any questions about the future of EMI 2 or details about EMI III.

Extremely low heating rates – new module for the EMI III heating microscope software

Extremely low heating rates – new module for the EMI III heating microscope software

The new “Extended heating rates” module for the EMI III heating microscope software offers you the possibility to heat your specimens up slowly while still in a controlled manner. This option is put into effect by switching the units of the heating rate from Kelvin per minute (K/min) to Kelvin per hour (K/h). With the new module, you can reduce the minimal heating rate from 0.1 K/min to 0.0017 K/min, or 0.1 K/h respectively.

Low heating rates like these are of interest for all users, who want to adjust a process-oriented heating profile or who want to meticulously determine temperature-induced material processes. In general, this applies to all sintering processes in the field of ceramics or powder metallurgy. Amongst others, the module is used for monitoring de-binding processes for the production of electroceramics.
